The Winter season is always different…it can be busy and exciting for a lot of us. With events like family dinners, friends gatherings, different weather activities…, we have plenty of distractions to keep us from focusing on our health and taking care of ourselves as we would normally.

On another note, with shorter days and colder weather, finding the motivation to stay healthy and fit can be difficult. Very easily we can let diet and healthy eating habits fall by the wayside, and sacrifice exercise for warm nights spent indoors on the couch. That can lay the foundation for a weakened immune system, posing a greater risk on our health and wellness.

In general, the biggest risk to our overall health is a lack of attention to diet and exercise routines. Imagine the impact when someone is living with a chronic condition such as diabetes. Taking a simple example…did you know that in some countries up to 20% of the population get the flu each winter? What does that mean? If you have diabetes, and you get the flu, given that your body is trying to fight the virus, your blood sugars will be above range, you will be feeling unwell and taking much more time to heal.

What could be some winter tips to help you stay healthy?

- Eat More Green and Orange Vegetables
Dark green and orange fruits are vegetables are full of healthy nutrients needed during winter. Spinach, kale, squash, carrots and oranges are all delicious during the winter. Try them in different recipes.

- Use Spices In Cooking
Turmeric- for example- is a spice traditionally used in cultural medicine. Curcumin, its main active yellow colored ingredient, helps to combat a number of conditions including inflammation, and it acts as a powerful antioxidant.

- Workout at Home
You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home when it is cold, to exercise. There are plenty of resources online offering fun workout videos and exercises ( yoga, resistance, stretching, dancing… ), that you could you right in your living room.

- Plan Your Exercises in Advance
Try to stick to a weekly exercise plan so you don’t put off your regular exercise activities. Write down your exercise schedule with as many details as you possibly can: workout routines, exercises, time, location… Knowing what you’re scheduled to do each day ahead of time makes it easier to stick to.

These are only few examples of tips and tricks to stay healthy. You just need to take actions and get started!

Diabetes Program

I have been living with type 2 diabetes for 5 years now. I used to struggle to maintain my blood sugar levels under control. Droobi has truly changed my life! My blood sugars are at target now, I lost some weight and changed my eating habits. I am so happy with the daily support I receive from my health coach. They are always super-supportive and positive even in my worse days. I really don't know what would I do without my personal coach. Thank you Droobi for helping me live better with diabetes.

Gestational Diabetes Program

On my 3rd pregnancy, I was informed after doing a test that I had gestational diabetes. I was really shocked because I was healthy in my previous pregnancies. When my doctor recommended Droobi, I thought I will give it a try. My health coach was super reactive and very helpful. She supported me in tracking my blood sugars and make the right food choices every single day. The program helped me overcome my fear and have a healthy delivery and baby. I am still using it even after giving birth.

Prevention program

I have heard about Droobi online and I decided to give its Prevention Program a try, given that diabetes runs in my family. It’s a very easy program, small steps made me lose weight, exercise more, and reduce the risk of getting chronic disease. Great simple app that offers the support, through reminders, tracking tools, lessons and professional coaches. I’ve been using it over a year and I would recommend it to anyone.
