The best time to check your blood sugar levels in Ramadan

Checking your blood sugar levels regularly during the fast is the best way to avoid complications. It will provide you with the right information to know how to manage your blood sugar levels. 

 

Here are the best times to check your blood sugar: 

  1. Pre-dawn meal (Suhoor) 

  2. Morning

  3. Midday 

  4. Mid-afternoon 

  5. Before sunset meal (iftar) 

  6. 2-hours after sunset meal (iftar) 

  7. Any time when you have symptoms of low or high blood sugar or are feeling unwell

 

If your blood sugar levels fall in any of the ranges below, then it becomes necessary that you break your fast:

  • Blood sugar level less than 70mg/dl (3.9 mmol/L)

  • Blood sugar level  greater than 300 mg/dL (16.7 mmol/L)

  • Any symptoms of hypoglycemia (such as shakiness, numbness in the lips) 

  • When you feel unwell
